Drifters are a race of beings that possess the ability to travel different dimensions. Drifters are the only humanoid race that can do this.
Drifters have no definite sex. Every time they drift it changes. There are more masculine and feminine Drifters, but never strictly male or female drifters. When they wish to bear children they simply do not drift until after the young are born. Drifters babies are born from eggs. The shell acts a barrier against any drifting the parents may do during incubation.
Once a Drifter emerges out of it's shell an object will magically appear. This object takes the form of something that can open other things such as a doorknob or key. It is a part of their soul and each is different. It is an item that can neither be destroyed nor lost. The only way one could destroy it would be by killing the Drifter it was assigned to.
Drifters have the ability to mate with myhakin and even humans. This happens rarely, however, to protect the species and keep it pure. Some Drifters claim it is taboo to mate with outside races, especially humans. Other Drifters say humans are pure beings and mating with one will only result in a mythakin while mating with mythakin will result in a Nori (creature of unknown origin).
Drifters are slowly becoming a dying race due to a lack of interest in breeding. Most Drifters become lost in their ability to drift and would rather travel than settle down. Others settle down in a dimension completely void of Drifters and never return. Some simply do not want children.
